PRIME MINISTER OF DENMARK CALLS ON THE PRESIDENT

Her Excellency Ms. Mette Frederiksen, the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Denmark, who is on an official visit to India, called on the President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, at Rashtrapati Bhavan today (October 9, 2021).The Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Denmark is the first Head of Government that the President has received since the Covid-19 pandemic started.
Welcoming the Prime Minister and her spouse to India, the President stated that India and Denmark were long standing friends and our warm and friendly ties were rooted in history as well as shared values and aspiration. The recently launched Green Strategic Partnership between India and Denmark will make our relationship even stronger. He added thatIndia and Denmark have strong trade and investment tiesand remarked that Danish public and private sectors were already actively involved in several states in India taking forward key National Missions such as Make in India, Jal Jeevan Mission, Smart Cities, Digital India, Start-up India, Clean India, Clean Ganga, and others.
The President extended an invitation to Her Majesty, the Queen of the Kingdom of Denmark, Margrethe II to visit India next year, which would coincide with the momentous occasion of the Golden Jubilee of her reign and 75 years of India’s independence. He added that the visit of Her Majesty, the Queen of Denmark, Margrethe II to India in 1963 as Crown Princess is still warmly recalled in India.
The President thanked Her Excellency and the Government and people of Denmark for their solidarity during the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic in India.
