The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, in his message on the eve of Buddha Purnima has said: -

"On the auspicious occasion of Buddha Purnima, I extend warm greetings and good wishes to all fellow citizens and people living abroad, specially followers of Lord Buddha.

Lord Buddha guided humanity towards nobility in thoughts and actions. His timeless message of non-violence, fraternity, love and compassion provides us the strength to work for the welfare of the people.

Our Constitution also takes inspiration from the teachings of Lord Buddha and emphasizes equality, justice and liberty for all citizens.

Let us infuse our thoughts, words and deeds with the teachings of Lord Buddha and follow the path towards universal fraternity”.
